PENN 11’ Squadron III Surf Conventional Casting Rod

$ 21.37

I got the 10′ 12-20lb model. I brought this a few months ago to fish off the piers, beaches and jetties in Washington State (Puget Sound and WA Coast). Rod performed flawlessly, but I also kept in mind that this rod is a price-point rod, made with “good-enough” components, but not top-quality (for that, you gotta get either the Battalion or Carnage rods where they come with Fuji reelseats and guides), so I always use the reel-clamps with this rod so I dont have to torque down the reel-seat screw to the point of breakage. I have paired it with my first gen Fathom 12 Star Drag FTH12SD and I can huck casts out far away with minimal effort. Prior to this, I was trying to cast out with a Salmon/Steelhead rod that was 10’6″ and couldnt get the proper casting distance, that rod just wasnt built right for the type of fishing I was trying to do. On the first day I got this rod, I knew I found what I was looking for. This is a great entry-level surf rod for those who want to get into surf-fishing. Its priced just right and performs flawlessly. Now that this rod has gotten me into surf-fishing, for my next rod, I might shell out a bit more and get the Battalion II or Carnage III rods. [...]
