One of the problems with owning a BMW motorcycle is the dealer network leaves a lot to be desired. My closest dealer is about 200 miles away. The shifter rubber split on my bike and ordering a new one means paying about as much, or more, for shipping as I’d pay for the part itself. I saw this shrink wrap sleeve advertised as being specifically for my problem. I ordered the 3/4” size. The size is perfect. Installation couldn’t be easier. I feel certain you could do it with a hair dryer but I used a heat gun. It shrunk down so tight it’s difficult to see that it’s a sleeve on top of the rubber. The only thing left to determine is will it hold up? Being as it’s winter I’m not riding much but it did well on a quick (45 minute) test ride. To be honest I think it’s a little overpriced but not by much and it’s definitely cheaper than ordering a new shifter rubber and paying shipping, especially if it holds up. The good news is I have plenty more on the roll so I can redo it several times if necessary.My rating system:5 stars….. Very good, recommended.4 stars….. Better than average.3 stars…..
