Electric Scooter: Hiboy Titan Pro.So far, I’ve read pages and pages of reviews and testimonials about the nightmares of installation and unfortunate failures while riding due to improperly sized or installed tires. Even Amazon had a cautionary warning about this item has a high return rate. My decision to switch to solid over tubed when I burned through 4 inner tubes in less than a week. First one I pinched the tube with the tire bar which caused it to not inflate. I attempted to repair said hole with a tire patch kit but because running my tires at 50psi, the patch wouldn’t hold. Then I purchased another tube but this one had the bent valve dead center of the inner circumference which lead to twisting and internally pinching the tube which went flat over night. I purchased 2 more tubes from another vendor and the same issue originally no matter how careful and gentle the tire mounting was. (Side note: there is not suck thing as a gentle tire mounting with this rim and scooter. ) my frustrations grew more intensive from having to repetitively dismount/mount/dismount/repair/mount only to fail sometime later the next day. I struggled to keep important scheduled appointments l, late for work, having to order a Lyft and rolling the dice that the car had a large enough trunk or the driver would allow the scooter to be stowed in their vehicle ( twice I’ve been canceled on because of drivers not risking damaging their car or my scooter). I’ve had dozens of times the thought of yeeting this scooter into the Grand Canyon or under a train and even into the very Sun itself has crossed my mind so I felt persuaded to try alternative means. Here’s what I got and how I installed it. E-scooter 10×2.75-6.5 solid tire 70/65-6.5What I had on my scooter was a 80/65-6.5 tire and tube. Before installing the solid tire, I prep’d the rim/hub motor by cleaning it with soap and water. Made sure the lip of the rim was free of burs and aggressive scuffs. I folded down the handles and firmly secured them with a nylon strap. I’mI heated up the tire in the microwave for 5 minutes (1 minute intervals giving the tire a 15second rest and flip before another 1minute cycle) and this could be even more cycles depending on the wattage of other microwaves. Make sure to be wearing insolated gloves because the rubber tire is gonna get hot AF. I lubed both the inner part of the tire and the lip of the rim with watered down dish soap and placed the tire on top of the old tire and the rim on top of the tire and using mine and the weight of the scooter to sandwich into each other and using 2 tire irons made for electric Scooters to stretch out the center of the tire while applying downward force that eventually slid the solid tire to make it just on the edge of the rim most of the way on. I stood my scooter up and a milk create and with a series of firm squeezing until the tire was completely mounted all the way around the rim. That was faster and easier than the tire and tube method and it is stable. I did a test run and it feels different but I’m a good way. There is an over all size difference between solid tires and air’d up tires. Original circumstances of mounted tubed tires I had was 87cm. Now I have a tad over 79cm. Solid tires before installation was 76cm.I’m going to wait on doing the same thing to the rear wheel. Because I wanna see how the new tire does after a few days of riding and I’ll update with anything that may up. I hope this review helps anyone else.
